Cynthia L. Nebel, Ph.D.
/Dr. Cynthia (Wooldridge) Nebel (she/her) is Director of Learning Services at St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. She specializes in research on transfer of learning, student study strategies, and individual differences in how students learn. She earned her Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in 2012.
Dr. Nebel previously served as Senior Lecturer at Vanderbilt University, Assistant Chair of Psychology at Lindenwood University, and Associate Professor of Psychology at Washburn University. She has shared the science of learning in TES Magazine. She is a frequent speaker at regional and national conferences in the U.S., U.K., and Australia, as well as at Fortune 500 companies and the U.S. State Department.
Dr. Nebel is passionate about bridging the gap between research and practice in education and is an active collaborator of The Learning Scientists, where she produces blog posts, podcast episodes, video content, and more. She co-authored the book Ace That Test: A Student’s Guide to Learning Better.
